As Old As I Am
By
Walt Perryman
As old as I am, I thought that I would know,
What I should not do and where not to go.
As old as I am, I should have life figured out,
And be doing what I should without a doubt.
As old as I am, I still need to change my ways,
And not try to live like I did in my younger days.
As old as I am, I feel like I am still learning
That our lives are like a candle that’s burning.
As old as I am, I am still not all that clever,
I often forget; candles don’t burn forever.
