Under The Rug
By
Bruce Clifford
They killed us with kindness
Then brushed us aside
They loved us for our smile
Then took us for a ride
I will see you at five thirty
Fifty dollars or more
When you find me I will hear your whisper
Until I fall face first on to the floor
You killed me with your silence
Then you brushed me under the rug
You never asked what I was after
Then you looked at me and shrugged
