If I Could Bend the Time

By Bruce Clifford

Shapes of us in the corner
In the sunlight against a wave
The sterile site of whispers
The space left to invade

If I could bend the time
Would things have turned out differently
If I could show you your reflection
Of the way things were supposed to be

If I bend the time
There was so much waiting for us here
If I could alter the reflection
We would have gone on without our fears

Sometimes when I dream at night
I can see the way we were supposed to be
I can see how things played out throughout our history
The way things were meant to be

Twists and turns and the other path
We took a sidestep that wasn't supposed to last
I know the way we were supposed to be
I can see how things played out throughout our history

The shape of the air
The way we would care
One road to the next
We had no defense

If I could bend the time
Would things have turned out differently
If I could show you your reflection
Of the way things were supposed to be

If I bend the time
There was so much waiting for us here
If I could alter the reflection
We would have gone on without our fears

Shapes of us in the mirror
In the ocean
In the sand
In the sky
I don't know why
