The Things We Ought to Know

By Bruce Clifford

Bursting the fire into flame
Falling down and getting up again
Look out for the timeless snow
Each day that passes with the things we ought to know

Living empty and feeling tired
Standing still, lonely and tired
In the distance all the places to go
Each target missed leaves me out of total control
The things we ought to know

Help me take my place in life
Hands in the air and trapped in endless shades of time
The rift of silence fills the stream
I can see it now, feel it now, be it now
It's all becoming routine

Making treasures and feeding the wild
This is who I've been ever since I was a child
In the chemistry of ultimate glow
Every moment captured is a place one needs to go
The things we ought to know

Help me take my place in life
Hands in the air and trapped in endless shades of time
The rift of silence fills the stream
I can see it now, feel it now, be it now
It's all becoming routine
It's all becoming routine
