Forever

By Bruce Clifford

Forever could mean never
If everyone came in
The latest and the greatest
The days you fought to win

Forever could be a lifetime
But a lifetime could be refrained
Shadows in the stardust
They're sheltering your pain

How much time do we have left
Only seconds or only days
Living for each moment
A total lapse of time

Forever could mean never
The quiet and the few
Missing memories of laughter
Wishing to once again have that view

Forever could be beyond tomorrow
The second hand turns around
Holding out for last minute treasures
Getting out without making a sound
