Historical Western Swing
In the next several issues of
Pencilstubs, I will try to continue my several articles on the history of
Western Swing. Many, many, comments
have been received directly by me and many more have appeared below the several
articles I have written since the October Issue of 2000.
There are still comments being made on the original article because it is
referenced any time someone just looks for Western
Swing by typing just those two words into
a search engine. Well, let’s face
It, I love the referrals, and now just thinking of that, I feel I should
continue to add all the information I can find on an interesting subject, from
all sources beside all the information I have accumulated over the years from
clippings and the backs of old record covers.
So every month or so I will find and
report on some interesting fact, history, or an individual who helped make this
genre very special in the history of American Music.

Greenhaw Records Offers Signature Guitars in Seasonal Promotion
Grammy Award-Winning Greenhaw Records of Texas, acclaimed gospel,
western swing, rockabilly and surf record label, has announced strategic
collaborations with The Ventures Model guitars and The Light Crust
Doughboys Model guitars for the upcoming, 2007 Christmas selling season.
To further the label's goal of introducing new players to the art of
electric and acoustic guitar, Greenhaw Records is selling and
distributing The Ventures Model guitars and basses and The Light Crust
Doughboys Model guitars and basses from its Mesquite, Texas showroom and
headquarters, along with offering a collectible 10-item music CD/DVD
package featuring Grammy-Winning artists with each guitar or bass sold
from now until the end of the year.
Says Greenhaw Records label head, Art Greenhaw, "Guitars, basses and our
label's combo music go hand-in-hand. For decades, The Ventures' albums
and The Light Crust Doughboys' albums have sold thousands of guitars
through the power of the music. In these challenging times where we're
seeing music education being cut back in key areas, our record label is
committed to doing everything we can to get music-making and
guitar-playing back in as many homes and hands as possible."
Greenhaw Records is the home to such acclaimed artists as The Light
Crust Doughboys, Ann-Margret, Nokie Edwards of The Ventures, The
Jordanaires, The SMU Mustang Band, gospel great Larry Ford and many
more. Greenhaw Records is pleased and proud to now offer some of the
world's most inspiring guitars--guitars with a story to tell--The
Ventures Models and The Light Crust Doughboys Models.
Visit www.artgreenhaw.com, email art@artgreenhaw.com and phone
