Direction

By Bruce Clifford

A chemical reaction
Toys and recreation
The silence of repetition
Each erroneous rendition
It's all caught up the direction

There was a boy who wrote a tune
There was a girl who was once inside of you
And there was a time when you would let it all out
Those were the days when we never had to scream and shout

There was a man who once had your back
There was girl who was never on a sneak attack
And there was a time when nothing else seemed to matter
Those were the days when we could laugh and keep what we gathered

Look and me with emotional chains
Getting by with only me to blame
Setting aside the chemical glow
Telling you my life and getting overexposed

There was a boy who wrote a song for you
There was a girl who once promised to take in all the view
And there was a time when you have a little faith in me
Those were the days when we new the way life should be

There was a man who once had your back
There was girl who was never on a sneak attack
And there was a time when nothing else seemed to matter
Those were the days when we could laugh and keep what we gathered
