The Next Degree of Separation

By Bruce Clifford

The next degree of separation
Is the seventh degree, I'm afraid
The sixth was such a revelation
We thought we almost had it made

The next degree of separation
Leads us to the wishing well
If we don't make it there without hesitation
We will all go straight to _____

Take me back to a quiet night in June
Stars in the sky are singing a different tune
Take me back to when we weren't so weak at our knees
There's got to be a place where our hearts can be free

The next degree of separation
I've been waiting for someone to write this book
The sixth degree was a revelation
The seventh degree got us off the hook
