Cookin' With Leo

By Leocthasme

Italian BBQ'd Burgers

Ever wonder why ol' Leo is doing everything Italian nowadays? Well, let's face it, my Dear Sweet Italian Fairy Godmother has left me with so many good gourmet gastronomies, that I will never run out of recipes, even if I live as long as she does (don't know if that was the right thing to mention here as neither of us ever discusses such things as age). Any way here is a real simple recipe for grilled burgers, which are probably more fattening than even Big Macs. But then, my recipes were never meant to be cholesterol conscious. I just enjoy good food. As the ol' sayin' goes, ' ask your doc if it is right for you'. Jeez, I hate to borrow such stupid TV slogans that tell you what to do just in case you don't know any better.

The following simple ingredients are all that are necessary:

About a pound or better of good lean ground beef
. 1 small sweet onion, chopped fine.
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (dat's Italian).
1 large toe of garlic, minced (and dat is too).
3 tablespoons BBQ sauce, choose any flavor you like, the regular works fine here.
    4 split hamburger buns.

And this is how you do what you gotta' do to do it:

In a mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients together, except the buns. Mix very thoroughly so that all the ingredients are blended well. Form into 4 patties. Grill about 5 or 6 minutes on each side, or until cooked through, 160°f.

Serve on the buns with a nice slice of red onion, a slice of tomato, and a lettuce leaf.

Salt and pepper to taste.

A cold schooner of Bud or Mick goes along well. My Texas buddies use that CKA stuff, but then they weren't raised no better, and don't understand the difference between good Union brewed beer and the cheap stuff. An' not only that, they like to crush the cans in one hand and them CKA cans are easier to crush than Bud or Mick cans.

Ya'll enjoy my Italian Burgers now ya'heah!
