The Safety Net (Faulty Sunset)

By Bruce Clifford

Tell me the truth and wake me from the lies
Get up early in the morning and put on your disguise
Getting into your car and turn the key and drive
Look at me baby from the other side
Look at me darling from the other side

This safety net is the place where I can rest
This safety net is the courage I had learned to protest
One day when I wake up from the corner of this nest
The safety net will carry me to be my very best

The faulty sunset we are headed for in the corner of this dream
Memories of time and space take me to each extreme
So tell me now who you think I am supposed to be
I can count the lines across the sky and call them history

This safety net is the place where I can rest
This safety net is the courage I had learned to protest
One day when I wake up from the corner of this nest
The safety net will carry me to be my very best

Are we headed towards the right side of the tracks
Or are we destined to hit a wall and then be turned back
Getting into your car and turn the key and drive
Look at me baby from the other side
Look at me darling from the other side
