The Ocean

By Bruce Clifford

You've left me abandoned
The darkness of the ocean
As far as what you thought you knew
I throw it out to sea
As far as what you're going through
When will you set my heart free

Dark and grey sky above me
Will anyone again love me
Have you ever wondered how it feels
To be cast out to sea
What is there to feel
What was then was just a dream

I see your reflection in the ocean
Looking out to the sea
There's a vision upon us now
If that is how it has to be
I see your reflection in the ocean
Your waves are crashing down on me
Your games are playing with my emotions
Eat me up and swallow me
In the ocean
In the ocean

Like a sailor lost at sea
Memories of a place I once knew
All these years I have been drifting
But our habits are not learned
Through the hours I've been sifting
There is a fire that always burns

I saw your reflection in the ocean
Looking out to the sea
There's a vision upon us now
If that is how it has to be
I saw your reflection in the ocean
Your waves are crashing down on me
Your games are playing with my emotions
Eat me up and swallow me

Out to the ocean
Out to the sea
Why are you doing this to me
The ocean
