Checking Me
By
Mary E. Adair
Once I could run
Six miles a day.
My legs were strong
To dance and play!
But my surroundings now
Show a different life.
Still I am peaceful
And suffer no strife.
But nearby you will see
A blood pressure cuff
To determine if my readings
Are high or low enough.
Even meals are measured
While yet quite tasty
But with beloved snacks
I can't be too hasty.
The prescriptions add up
Plus the supplements too
But with many allergies
There's some I can't do.
How many doctors are on your list?
Just a few?
Mine number several and so
Appointments I do
To check my progress
Without duress
Only success
And Heaven forbid any stress!
So far, so good,
I'll have to say.
Looks like I am going
To live another day!
