Missing out on the things that come into view
Missing out on dreams and a thing or two
The sky is clear, but there are clouds in the air
The sky is clear, but does anyone care

Missing out on the rights and the wrongs
Missing out on the calm before the storm
The ice is melting, but the sun continues to shine
The ice is melting your heart and mine

It’s not what we expected
It’s not freedom or fear
It’s not that we are pretending
We’re just pretending to care

Missing out on the things that could be
Missing out on the optimal degree
The water will rise, but does this come as a surprise
The water will rise in this bitter compromise

Missing out on the good and the bad
Missing out on the happy and the sad
The sky is clear, but there are fires of rain
The sky is clear, but things will never be the same
