Dawn of Day

By Bruce Clifford

This is the dawn of day
Everything she wanted to say
Nothing could ever get in her way
It’s the dawn of day

These are the secrets she keeps
All the faded images every time that she weeps
These are the dreams she contrives
It only hurts if you get out of this alive

This is the dawn of day
Moments of silence have gone away
Complex thoughts of those who have stayed
It’s the dawn of day

Are you better off not knowing
Are you better off being misunderstood
There are tears and scars that are showing
I would be there for you, only if I could

This is the dawn of day
Everything she wished she could say
Nothing could ever keep her in place
This is the dawn of day

These are the stories she keeps
All the fallen angels she dreams about when she sleeps
Each melody she sings she falls further and far
She makes a wish on a nearby star

This is the dawn of day
Everything she wanted to say
Nothing could ever get in her way
It’s the dawn of day
