March Cypress

By John I. Blair

The cypress, graceful, tall,
Spreads her bare knees
In the March sunshine
To warm them,
To test the breeze.

A grand old dame
Relaxing on the lawn,
Wearing her windblown dress,
Not caring what the rest think,
She has just herself to please.
