There is an ancient American Indian legend

That tells of the time Man and Beast were divided.

A great rift began to move across the firmament

And as it moved the Beast would

Hurry away from Man

For Man had angered God.

As the rift spread across the firmament

The entire Beast moved away from Man.

Near the end Man stood alone.

Just before the division was too great

One Beast, Dog, leaped the great chasm

To stand by Man.

Throughout history there have been stories

Of Dog giving friendship, comfort, protection,

Guidance and many other things

That justifies the original decision.

No other form of life

Has given Man such things.

If God were to visit this world,

He could surely be in the form of Dog.
