Thinking

By Bruce Clifford

Too much of me is missing
So many pieces gone in a blink
Too many moments day dreaming
All the ways I get by and I think

Thinking of what was
Thinking of what could have been
Thinking beyond the stars
Thinking of tonic and gin

Too much of me has fallen
The many obstacles in the way
I can still hear the ocean calling
All these emotions carry their weight

Thinking of what was
Thinking of what could have been
Thinking beyond the stars
Thinking of my will to win

Still we carry on like we did many years ago
We carry on like nothing’s changed

Too much of me is missing
So much pain when I stop to think
I can still hear the voices calling
So many pieces gone in a blink
