Night Sky

By John I. Blair

Feathers of foliage
Fringe the night sky,
Framing faint, vast stars
In the dark of the moon.

Their silhouettes
Emphasize at last
How little light there is
For my eyes to see by.

Without the trees as shield,
With only sky to view,
I know I’d be as awed
By midnight stars as noon sun.
