I Do Not Dare

By John I. Blair

It’s been more than a year
And yet I do not dare
Think of her,
Her face, her voice,
Her scent, her feel.

I do not dare
Contemplate
That I lie here
In the hollow set by her
Into this bed.

Nor do I dare
Forget.
