If Life Were Simple

By John I. Blair

If life were simple
I’d know the answers
To the questions that you didn’t ask,

The path before me
Would lead me to a place
I could foresee,

Problems find solutions,
Analgesics come to be
For every pain.

If life were simple
Instead of staring at you
Wondering

I’d gladly give
The warm embrace
I have to guess you need.
