V

By John I. Blair

Each November and December as by plan
No matter what the weather they do come;
So I suppose there’s nothing special
I should see a V of birds today
Flapping above a corner store
Excepting they’ve been coming
Every year since we remember,
Every year since way before
We were here to be amazed,
Before our bit of time began.
