Bittersweet Goodbyes

By Bruce Clifford

Bittersweet goodbyes are not forever
I looked into her eyes, something to treasure
I could carry on for about a week or two
Bittersweet goodbyes are said with gratitude

Floating in the sky the earth way down below
We won’t say goodbye if we could only say hello
Looking down as the city drifts away
I’ll be back, but it will have to wait for another day

Bittersweet goodbyes are not the end of knowing
The kisses and the cries just knowing that we’re going
I could carry on all about the dreams we shared
Bittersweet goodbyes just knowing that we cared

Rainbows and crowds
Pictures of moments
Talking out loud
Taking on this world

Bittersweet goodbyes are not forever
I looked into her eyes, something to treasure
I could carry on for about a week or two
Bittersweet goodbyes are said with gratitude
