All My Mothers And My Fathers
By
John I. Blair
All my Mothers and my Fathers,
Keep me in your dreams
There where you’re sleeping in the earth,
Shining in the starlit sky,
Drifting in the sea.
Did you anticipate my birth?
Could you foretell my life?
Are you calm about my death,
That future day when my last breath
Is uttered back to thee?
