The Silence
By
Joanne Sprott
In the silence, I walk,
Until you whisper to me
From dampened leaves.
Steeped in leaf-fall am I;
A chill fog rises past my lips;
I sense your cool kiss.
Glowing drops warm my skin,
Until you surround me,
And soak yourself in.
Your touch is gleaming;
You slide off my fingertips,
Drip onto the soil, steaming.
Our love flows behind starlight,
Wavers under street lights,
And slips past the moon.
Our love rests in silence,
Beyond sight, beyond sound;
Only touch matters.
