Night Bloom
By
John I. Blair
Dim light hides possibilities
Day never knows
That nibble my neck,
Itch my nose, squish
Between my naked toes.
Poised in the dark
I wish my eyes wide,
Washing them in stars;
My ears like antennae
For owl cries, toad croaks.
Never so alive,
Never so sensual,
But denied easy sight,
My slow body unfurls,
A night bloom revealed.
