Plum Beautiful
By
John I. Blair
Hereabouts in Spring
Around the first of March
All over town these clouds
Of white and fragrant blossoms
Manifest like dreams of love
Upon the husk of Winter
Bursting through dry bark
Into the chill but radiant air
As if hope no longer
Can be shackled by despair
Nor will until the day
A dying sun consumes us.
