Theatre
The legendary Light Crust Doughboys, in their first
Pocket Concert of 2008, present "Springtime On The
Range," on Monday, April 28, at 7:30 at the Pocket
Sandwich Theatre.
Previously named The State of Texas Official Music
Ambassadors by the State Legislature, the Doughboys were
last year designated Official Touring Artists by the
Texas Commission on the Arts, one of 12 outstanding Texas
artists to receive this honor. So they'll be taking
their act all over the country this year, and it's going
to cut into their Pocket Concert time. This concert is
just one of two which they'll be presenting at the Pocket
Sandwich Theatre this year.
The moral to this story? Catch them while you can so
you don't have to take a trip out of town to enjoy their
wonderful show.
Additional honors, among the many which have been
bestowed upon the Doughboys, include a Grammy Award,
induction into many musical Halls of Fame, and in 2007
receiving the Academy of Western Artists (AWA) "Will
Rogers Award for Western Swing Group."
The Doughboys have performed to enthusiastic crowds at
the Pocket Sandwich Theatre for many years. Members of
the group include Maurice Anderson, Dale Cook, Jim Baker,
Kevin Bailey, and Art Greenhaw. The Doughboys Brass and
Reed Ensemble will also be on hand to provide their
wonderful big-band sound to the Western Swing.
The theatre will open for dinner and beverage service
at 6:15 on Monday, April 28, and the show will begin at
7:30. Tickets (show only) are $18.00. The Pocket
Sandwich Theatre is located at 5400 East Mockingbird,
Suite 119, Mockingbird Central Plaza, one block east of
Central Expressway.
