Kick Me When I'm Down
By
Bruce Clifford
I wish I wasn't as sad as I am today
All the mixed emotions that got in the way
Like every grain of sand
The many reasons I don't understand
They all tell me we're better off this way
I don't know who they are to say
Each time I think of you
All the reasons why I ignored your point of view
You might as well kick me when I'm down
Turn me upside down
Rub my face all over town
You lifted me up
And then you kick me when I'm down
I wish I wasn't afraid like I am right now
I remember a time when you once were proud
Like every star in the night sky
You made a wish and tossed your dreams goodbye
All the reasons why you are holding back on faith
You might as well kick me when I'm down
Turn me upside down
Rub my name all over town
You lifted me up
And then you kicked me when I'm down
You dropped me to the ground
You tangled me up
As you kicked me when I'm down
A variety of shapes
Stretch the emotion
Don't hold your breathe
You tangled with emotion
Was it lack of devotion
Out to the ocean
You might as well kick me when I'm down
Turn me upside down
Rub my name all over town
You lifted me up
And then you kicked me when I'm down
You dropped me to the ground
You tangled me up
As you kicked me when I'm down
I wish I wasn't as sad as I am today
All the past that haunts us got in the way
Like every night spent with you
I'm all alone in this private solitude
All the reasons why you went out of your mind
You might as well kick me when I'm down
Turn me upside down
Rub my name all over town
You lifted me up
And then you kicked me when I'm down
You dropped me to the ground
You tangled me up
As you kicked me when I'm down
