To Be A Bird

By Bud Lemire

Spreading my wings, flying high and free
Carry me away to my destiny
A worm for you and one for me
A bird's eye view makes it easy to see
Let's take a rest
Here upon the nest
And sing a happy song of cheer
Thankful for what we have here
Ruffled feathers, spirit be calm and in control
Float upon the air, light as the soul
High among the clouds
Far above the crowds
Gliding on a gentle breeze
Wings moving with such ease
On a solo flight
No flock in sight
To be here in the air
Without a worry or a care
You can't find a word
Of how it feels to be a bird
