I Lost the Girl

By Bruce Clifford

I lost the girl
The one who got away
Where is she going
I can't say

I lost the girl
Into the night
Is she dreaming
Or with another guy

I don't know what to say
How could a guy like me let a girl like her get away
She got away

I lost the girl
While on the run
We once had the answers
We laughed and had fun

I lost the girl
Seems like overnight
Where is she headed
Or has she arrived

I don't know who is to blame
How could a guy like me let a girl like her get away

The days seem so empty
The nights seem so long
How am I supposed to find the strength to get along

I lost the girl
The one who got away
Where is she going
I can't say

I lost the girl
Far out of view
She left me with questions
She left here with you
