Existential

By John I. Blair

What daily shock to realize
That I am viewing something
And ponder what
That act entails:
An eye, an I,
A try to link the two.

Then comes a vague surprise
At thinking I will die
And theorize no more;
Wonder in the thought
That being I implies
There is a You.
