Seeing God

By John I. Blair

It’s easy to see God
In a searing sunrise
A gleaming moon
A towering tree
A mighty mountain
A blinding lightning bolt
The sky
The sea;
Many find holiness
In exaltation.

But I submit
For your consideration
That if we cannot
Also see God
In festering sores
Or rotting road kill
Then our idea of deity
Is inadequate
To the world in which we live
For it does include these things.
