Dear Mr. President Bush,
my mommy says the country isn't doing well.
She says it's all your fault.
So why did you do it,
Mr. President Bush?
Why did you make all those people go to heaven?
Why haven't you protected our country?
My mommy works with a friend,
whose husband went to Iraq.
Every day her heart stops
when she reads the headlines:
ten people killed, three hostages still alive.
A tank was bombed,
with her husband's troop number on it.
So why did you do it,
Mr. President Bush?
my mommy says the country isn't doing well.
She says it's all your fault.

Comment: One learns in Life's hard school that many people are also willing to voice their opinions, even when they differ from another's viewpoint. That is the great part of being an American!!!!I am a writer, did a column for 25-30 years and was given the opinions of many of the readers that differed from mine. Also they said how much they enjoyed being able to state their opinions openly, knowing that they would receive fair treatment. That is what makes America great and different from many other countries. Let us pray that we can keep America that way - a LIGHT for other countries to go by. PS - I am NOT upset, by the way - just exercising my right to speak, even as you did.
Comment: Okay, look. I'm sorry if I have upset you all, but this is how I feel. I beleve we are all entilted to our own opinions, and this is mine. So, I am sorry. As for my site, I haven't really had the time to update it. I'm trying HTML stuff and making layouts, and school's REALLY buying my time. And speaking of which, I have learned about that in school, and I have gotten far on the subject. Once again, I am sorry if I have offended anyone.

Comment: Brooke,
Reading your poem was interesting. I know people get up set when there are wars and lives are lost. Yet, sometimes that is what has to happen. As you have learned (I hope) in school, a lot of our ancestors came to America to have freedom from oppression in their countries, or they came as indentured servants (from Scotland and England)to serve so many years before they could be free. In America we have had several wars to keep us free and that is what we are trying to do for other nations. I am sure that you would not want to have a government like the children do in Iraq or Afghanistan where women of all ages have been treated unfairly. Some of these unjust ways, may have been that females were not able to go as far in school as they wanted to; they couldn't dress the way they wanted to--having to wear long dresses and having to keep their faces covered. Females were (are) considered lower than animals.
War is not fair-----but George Bush didn't start the war. America has always been considered a power that other nations can ask for help from or a country that can step in when no one else is willing to help make things right.
Before you make up your young mind what is right and wrong, make sure that you not only listen to what people say, but what has been our history and what should be our destiny in keeping America the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Comment: Hey Brooke,
Keep up the writing. Things are going to keep changing in your life, your whole life through. That is the "constant" as they say. You need to update your web page when you get a chance. When I was a soldier (perhaps, once a soldier, always a soldier), I had to take an oath to pledge my allegiance to United States of America and to the Commander-in-Chief (the President). Any dissent or action to the contrary would have been considered insubordinate and punishable by court- martial. So, for better, or worse, we soldiers had to accept the President as the man calling the shots. It would be "Great" not to have any wars. There has always been wars and innocents lost:( But, I believe, to show the other countries we are still Number One, we should rally behind our President with a United Voice from these United States. If it could only be like our Founding-Fathers wanted.........
Comment: I was going to write a letter in President George Bush's defense. Then I thought - the majority of the people have always been too dumb to understand anything, lack the brains to understand the game of politics and the imagination and the intuition to see who the real villians really are - so it would be a waste of time. As for me and mine, we say "God Bless George Bush and God Bless America! May she be kept free forever from people who are easily led and do no thinking of their own.
Your very own Cassandra!!!!

Comment: Hi Brooke
I ain't much on readin' poetry, but my eye sure caught this one.
Great!!!
And, as far as I am concerned I would not give a hoot in hell who is offendeed.
Your words should bring us all to attention.
I am glad you are a nice young person who is interested in 'what's going on'.
Us ol' coots need to be reminded.
You just remind us that we are shaping America for you guys, and that we need to be thinking about you when we cast our votes.
You will have to live with what we do, so pray for us that we do it right.
