Hair today, Gone insane Tomorrow

By M. Jay Mansfield

For months I tucked my hair neatly up under my corporate hat...
and the sun did not touch it...
and it grew...
and fell about my neck when the day was done...
v and as my countenance grew darker I shunned the light...
until I reveled in the glow of my darkness...
slowly I removed the corporate binders...
let my mane blow free...
and the sun bleached it...
until it was a stark contrast to my darkened eyes...
as my face glowed with fury and light...
I began to like me again...
I felt at home in me...
I became me again...
a little more freak...
a bit louder...
a bit less meek...
and those that knew me, knew me...
and those that didn`t found out...
Found out how beautifully ugly the truth can be...
They found out how nice it can be when you stare at your fears...
and your fears smile back...
with a yes sir and helping hand...
their fears guided them on their way...
The shimmer in my eyes...
in my soul...
attracts them back...
even though they want to say no...
they see the truth and they must come to me...
They clamor for the abuse...
and cringe before the gifts I`ve so carefully left with them...
My soft sweet words tick ominously in their head...
they`ve missed their meaning but the truth is stuck in their clockwork...
and they cannot shake it out...
is glides gently to and fro...
tickling their frontal lobes...
the ghost of understanding haunts them...
promising to reveal all...
if they just follow it a bit closer...
just a bit closer...
and down that dim hallway...
it promises to explode into a ball room of light and answers...
just follow it down ...
down...
into me...
