Bad Girl
By
Bruce Clifford
She can't afford the gas to make it to the stars
When she wakes up in a rut she never makes it far
She can't find her way to the theories in her mind
Capturing the days morning news leaves her hours behind
When she is standing still you could almost hear her think
But you will never see her whispering or take her pills with a drink
She can't walk the mile to the casualty she once endured
Falling deep in the state of mind which leads her to the door
She's a bad girl
And she's trying
She's a bad girl
Always crying
And she's trying
(Drink at the Bar)
And when she offers to buy you a drink
Don't think
Grown men don't think with their mind
And when she offers to take you home
Don't think
Don't go
(10 Years Prior)
But I bet she was once an extraordinary girl
And I bet she once held the world in her hands
Nobody knows what she was like before her ship came in
Only she knows what it was like before the big break
The pain and the ache
But I bet she was once an extraordinary girl
And I bet she once held her future in her hands
I don't know what changed but she was never the same
She was never the same way again
Maybe she played a guitar
Maybe she was a movie star
Maybe she built hopes and dreams
Maybe she was another extreme
And I'm sure she was once an extraordinary girl
Now she cries ten years later in her lonely silent world
Nobody knows what she was like before her ship came in
Only she knows what it was like before the big break
The pain and the ache
(Bad, Bad Girl)
She's the bad, bad girl on the block
She's here to fight not into rock
All her energy and drive
Is wasted with lonely compromise
She's the bad, bad girl in the street
She's gonna bite and it's such a treat
Once you're caught you won't get away
The black widow inside her will make you go away
She's a bad girl
And she's trying
She's a bad girl
Always crying
And she's trying
