Mikes Place

By Michael L. Craner

"Don't Waste Your Vote!" What does that mean? First of all, consider the source. Usually it is from a highly motivated Republican or Democrat who wants your vote to go to the candidate "most likely to succeed", namely theirs.

Folks, this ain't High School, and in November we aren't voting for "The most likely to succeed". Only ignorant sheeple do that. (Sheeple are sheep in peoples clothing, they generally follow the flock without question.)

We're supposed to be voting for the person who most represents our values, ideals and interests. (I am using "our" in the collective individual sense. Meaning you vote for the person who represents YOU, not the nearest big-mouth in your vicinity.)

After much research and soul searching I have determined that wasting your vote is accomplished in any one of the following ways:
1) Failing to vote at all.
2) Failing to vote because you know you and your spouses vote will "cancel each other out."
3) Voting for someone (or party) because they are "the lesser of two evils" or "most likely to win anyway."

I would also have liked to have added that if I rolled up my ballot, lit it on fire and shoved it up the rear-end of the next Republican or Democrat that told me "Don't waste your vote!" that it wouldn't be wasted even then, however after more thought (something sheeple are incapable of), I realized that it WOULD be wasted due to the legal repercussions of destruction of government property, assault with intent to do bodily harm, etc as well as rendering my ballot in a state in which it could not be counted.

If the 48% of persons of age to vote in 2000 who didn't vote had voted for a third party candidate, and everyone else who wasted their votes by voting for "most likely to succeed" or "lesser of two evils" had done the same, both Bush and Gore would have lost by a significant margin.

Now tell me again how a vote against Republicans and Democrats is wasted? Or how it would have HELPED one or the other?

Don't take my word for it, check out these other commentaries on "wasting your vote".

Also very good, talks about popular vs. electorate and gives statistics.
