Lacy Valentine

By Clara Blair

With wonderful timing
The season's first snow
Greets Valentine's morning
With a soft frosty glow.

The twigs and the branches
By morn's early light
Are layered three inches
In feathery white.

Grass and bright crocus
Lie blanketed, too,
And rosy red quinces
Add white to their hue.

A beautiful Valentine
For all cosy lovers,
Sipping coffee or twined
Beneath warm shelt'ring covers.

Or for building a snowman
Or a fast snowball fight,
A glorious gift
Is this plaything of white!

'Twill be gone by tomorrow,
But today, come and play!
Nature's wishing North Texas
Happy Valentine's Day!
