A Thinking Disorder

By Walt Perryman

Some may not understand this, but some will,
I’m writing this because happiness is a big deal.

I’ve wasted so much of my life not being there.
Because I wanted to be there instead of here

. Instead of being happy wherever I was now,
I was thinking I’d be happier there somehow.

But in the last ten years I’ve been happy here,
Then I had a relapse, and I wanted to be there.

Now I’ve learned that happiness is in the heart,
And also, because my heart and I are never apart.
